Project introduction
Afghanistan In Kabul, the rapid urbanization and increase in the number of registered vehicles due to population growth have exacerbated traffic congestion, but road maintenance has not kept pace, and the pavement ratio of city roads remains at 20%. Japan implemented road maintenance in Kabul City under the "Kabul Metropolitan Area Development Plan Promotion Project" (May 2010 - May 2015), but more practical human resource capacity building for the promotion of the development plan is needed. This cooperation will support capacity building in road design, road construction supervision, and road maintenance in the city. This will strengthen the road department's ability to implement and manage projects, and contribute to proper road maintenance and management in the city. The technology transfer will be carried out over a three-year period starting in September 2016, targeting employees who will serve as instructors within City Hall, and is expected to spread the technology throughout the City Hall.
